In the wake of Reese Witherspoon‘s arrest last Friday (April 19), video footage has emerged showing the 37-year-old actress in handcuffs at the Atlanta police station.
The video shows Witherspoon escorted out of the police car, then uncuffed and taken inside to be booked.
Witherspooon was arrested for disorderly conduct after her husband, Jim Toth, was pulled over for suspicion of driving under the influence.
Since the arrest, Witherspoon has released a statement apologizing for her actions, “I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said,” Reese said in her statement. “I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I’m very sorry for my behavior.”
Reese Witherspoon had quite the whirlwind weekend but that didn’t stop her from making her first red carpet appearance since her arrest on Friday (April 19) for disorderly conduct.
The 37-year-old actress stepped out in a black Saint Laurent dress for the screening of ‘Mud alongside Matthew McConaughey on Sunday (April 21) held at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
Witherspoon also released a statement in regards to her and her husband, Jim Toth’s arrest saying, “Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now,” Reese said. “But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I’m very sorry for my behavior.”
