For my first exclusive interview I got the opportunity to chat with Emrhys Cooper, a 2012 rising star who is already creating tons of buzz with his talent and charm!

The 27-year-old British born actor who just celebrated his birthday on Valentine’s Day made his debut on stage in London’s West End in the Queen Musical ‘We Will Rock You‘ where his affair with theatre began.

Most recently he won the coveted Broadway Worlds Award for “Person to Watch” for his title role in ‘Entertaining Mr. Sloane‘ and the LA Stage Award for “Best Leading Actor.”

Since then Emrhys has blossomed into film work with sought-after roles in ‘Mamma Mia!‘ starring Meryl Streep and  ’Walk a Mile in My Pradas‘ co-starring Tom Arnold. He’s since made TV guest appearances on ‘CSI: NY‘ and most recently on ‘Desperate Housewives.’

Vicky B. Online:  You have done a lot of theatre in London, how has the transition been to TV/Film?

EC: It doesn’t happen as quickly as one may think. I have been plugging away for some years now and I am only finally now seeing some results.

Vicky B. Online: How much of your theatre background has prepared you for the work you have done on the big/small screen?

EC: Working in the theatre gives you a strong skill set to build on and it definitely teaches you the importance of being a team player.

Vicky B. Online:  What attracted you to make the move from London to Los Angeles?

EC: Doesn’t every actor dream of moving to sunny LA and getting their big break? No seriously, I thought there were more opportunities at this point in my career here in LA.

Vicky B. Online: What draws you to take on a certain role?

EC: The Challenge. I have to feel like it is something I can pull off and then see what I can bring to it. And also pay the bills.

Vicky B. Online: What are some of your dream roles?

EC: James Bond… Or some kind of spy. I would also love to do a period piece.

Vicky B. Online: Who are some of your biggest influences/inspirations?

EC: My parent were both performers and they taught me to Think out of the Box and Follow my Dreams.

Vicky B. Online: What is the one thing that your fans and my readers would be surprised to find out about you? Do you have any hidden talents?

EC: I live quietly in the Hollywood Hills with my African Grey Parrot “Coco” and my Cat “Larry” both strays that I saved. I always wanted a dog but it wouldn’t be fair with the hours I am out of the house. I am up by 6am to go to the gym and normally in bed asleep by 9:30.

Vicky B. Online: What can fans look forward to from you in the future?

EC: I am doing a musical movie this year which is going to be a tremendous amount of fun. Definitely more theatre, I am hoping to come back to London and do another show in the not too distant future.
