The numbers are finally in!

Amidst tragedy this past weekend in Colorado, ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ topped the box office earning $160.9 million making it the biggest 2-D opening ever.

Warner Bros. held out releasing their revenue reports till Monday (July 23) out of respect for the victims and their families after the mass shooting that left 12 dead and 58 wounded at a midnight screening of the movie in Aurora, Colorado.

Though the film had a strong opening, it fell short with box office expectations ranging from $170 million to $200 million.

Christian Bale Releases Statement After Batman Massacre

Christian Bale has spoken out and released a statement about the Aurora shooting that occurred on Friday (July 20) during a midnight screening of his film ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’

The 38-year-old actor told MTV News, ”Words cannot express the horror that I feel, I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”

James Holmes, the alleged gunman opened fire in the movie theater killing 12 people and injuring 58.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families at this time.
