It was a bitter sweet Tuesday night (May 17) in Chicago as Oprah Winfrey taped her last show ever. The daytime talk show queen had some amazing guests drop by to bid her farewell. From Madonna, Halle Berry, Diane Sawyer, Stevie Wonder, Tom Hanks, Queen Latifah, Tom Cruise (minus the couch), Katie Holmes, Beyonce (who performed her new single “Girls (Run the World“), Maria Shriver and many more saluted Oprah in front of 13,000 audience members.
The show which will air on May 23rd and 24th is titled “Oprah’s Surprise Spectacular” as even she herself didn’t know who would be joining her on stage.
Oprah was serenaded by many great artists last night including Setvie Wonder, Beyonce like I mentioned above, Patti LaBelle with Josh Groban, Rascal Flatts as well as Usher and even Aretha Franklin sang “Amazing Grace.”
Despite her personal issues Shriver made an appearance last night also and wowed the crowd with her dazzling dress and demeanor. She had a special message to Oprah saying, “(Oprah) has given me love, support, wisdom and most of all the truth. (I’m) not alone in receiving those gifts.”
My favorite kind words to Oprah came from Madonna who said this, “It’s no secret that millions of people are inspired by Oprah. I am one of those people…She fights for things she believes in, even if it makes her unpopular…I have learned so much from her.” She continues, “She’s a self-made woman who’s been at the top of her game for 25 years – and she’s still kicking ass, I vow to be more courageous and never give up…Thank you for inspiring me.”
