Natalie Portman‘s Dior mascara ad has been banned in Britain due to its false advertising.
The U.K.’s Advertising Standards Authority banned the ad after rival brand L’Oreal U.K. complained that the ad “misleadingly exaggerated the likely effects of the product.”
The fashion house and beauty company did admit to retouching and enhancing the ad to “separate/increase the length and curve of a number of her lashes and to replace/fill a number of missing or damaged lashes, for a more stylised, uniform and tidy effect.”
The ASA found the ad misleading and “must not appear again in its current form.”
Do you think other countries should start cracking down on airbrushing and retouching in advertising? I want to hear your thoughts, sound off in comments below!
