Madonna on Lady Gaga’s Hit “Born This Way”: “When I heard it on the radio …I said that sounds very familiar.”

Ever since Lady Gaga‘s hit “Born This Way” hit the airwaves all listeners could do was compare it to Madonna‘s “Express Yourself.”

Now the 53-year-old singer is breaking her silence about the comparison in a new interview with ‘20/20.’

In the interview Madonna admits that “When I heard it on the radio …I said that sounds very familiar.”

“I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it’s amusing and flattering and well done,” she said.

Asked in the interview if she was annoyed by Gaga referencing her musical style Madonna said, “There’s a lot of ways to look at it. I can’t really be annoyed by it… because, obviously, I’ve influenced her.”
